Unit of Research on Lipids (URL)

Unit of Research on Lipids (URL) provides a platform for interdisciplinary collaborations within the Universiti Malaya, and stimulate interactions with other institutions of higher learning and the industry. The main focus is laid on human nutrition and high valued oil-based through interdisciplinary research on oils and fats, more particularly on palm oil.

Apart from the 17 types of oils and fats in the international market, Malaysia has an array of its own sources of conventional and exotic oils and fats, due to her vast natural resources. Moreover, as Malaysia is one of the major producer and exporter of palm oil in the world, the researches on the palm oil become crucial in order to optimize the potential application of oil palm, as well as contributing to country’s income.

URL extends invitation for possible collaborations with scientists on similar research interest and theme through fundamental and applied approaches.
